In 2009, Vicente Zambada Sr., was offered an opportunity to sell mangos and white corn from Sinaloa in the Los Angeles Terminal Market. Despite not knowing a thing about produce or mangos, Don Vicente, decided to embark on a journey; not imagining what he and his team would accomplish years later.  That summer he was joined by Jesus Montoya, who is currently the warehouse manager.  Jesus wholeheartedly believed in Don Vicente’s dream to one day create a corporation that would serve their community and customers all over the nation - from wholesalers, foodservice, to retail. Their partnership birthed Fresh Packing, which humbly began with a single pick-up truck, a dream, and a whole lot of grit.  

With the end of the mango season, an opportunity arose to partner with a grower on a grape and cherry-tomato project from La Paz, Baja California Mexico. Later, in 2010, as the grape and cherry tomato season was about to begin, Vicente Zambada Jr., the oldest of Don Vicente’s three children, joined his father’s business with hopes of solidifying the company’s sales department. Vicente's young mindset, out-of-the-box thinking, innovative skills, and abilities became crucial to the growth of the company; his contributions ultimately impacted the mode of operation of Fresh Packing. The trio began to embark on more projects and catered to more customers. Today, the father-son duo continuously work side-by-side to develop new projects and partnerships in regions such as California, Baja California, Sinaloa, and Sonora to complete a year-round cycle of squash, chili peppers, tomatoes, and bell peppers.
